Manchester City striker Jo expects to score 'a lot of goals' in his first season in England, while Valeri Bojinov has had an injury setback. The 21-year-old Brazilian joined City from CSKA Moscow in a big-money move earlier this month.
He accepts that it will be difficult to make an immediate impression but feels ready for the challenge and hopes to take the Premier League by storm.
"I know it's not easy to play in England, but I can score a lot of goals," Jo, who will miss the start of the season due to the Olympics, told the New Paper.
Liverpool forward Fernando Torres netted 32 times in his debut campaign at Anfield and Jo wants to be just as successful.
He said: "I can't say that I'm better than him, but my job is the same as his - to score lots of goals."
Jo became Mark Hughes' first signing as City boss when he sealed his switch to Eastlands and he has been impressed by the manager since his arrival.
Jo is now looking to repay Hughes' faith in him and help City improve on last season's ninth-placed finish in the Premier League.
"I decided to come to Manchester City because it is one of the clubs that showed more interest in me, although I had offers from other clubs," he explained.
"After I spoke to the manager I was very pleased. I was told Manchester City are a club going forward. We can go places, that is our objective."
Valeri Bojinov, meanwhile, has suffered a slight setback in his bid to regain full fitness.
The Bulgarian striker missed virtually all of last season with a serious knee injury and has had to contend with a number of niggling problems during the summer.
"He is a little bit behind the group because he has not been able to join in the sessions," Hughes told the Manchester Evening News.
Bojinov has been linked with a move away from City this summer but he is keen to stay and establish himself as a regular starter.
He said: "I am hungry to come back and play. I am hungry for everything - training, playing and scoring goals."
