Notts County manager Ian McParland was full of praise for Spencer Weir-Daley after he netted a hat-trick in the 5-2 win at Hucknall.Jamie Forrester, 33, who joined the Magpies on a free transfer from League Two rivals Lincoln earlier this summer, linked up well with Weir-Daley in attack.

Forrester and Ben Fairclough also netted as the Magpies made it 11 goals in three pre-season games and McParland told the club's official website: "It was a good workout for us but it is early days and we still have plenty to do.

"Spencer worked hard and got his hat-trick so I'm delighted for him. He got a few goalscorers' goals out there. He worked hard and Jamie Forrester's experience is clear to see when he is out there."
