Southend United manager Steve Tilson is keen to re-sign Chelsea youngster Anthony Grant on a permanent basis for the Shrimpers.The 21-year-old midfielder, who has made one senior appearance during his time at Stamford Bridge, spent the latter part of last season on loan with the Shrimpers.

Grant was a surprise inclusion in the side which beat Billericay Town 1-0 on Thursday - Damian Scannell was on target - and Tilson is now hoping to complete a deal.

"He's available if we want him and we will be speaking again on Friday to see if something can happen," Tilson told the club's official website.

"Sometimes it is better the devil you know and I think he would be a good addition to the squad.

"He has versatility and he slotted into place nicely on Thursday night."
