USADA gives US Olympians pre-Games review of test rules

Fri 25 Jul, 05:27 PM

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (AFP) - US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) officials are increasing educational efforts for US Olympians ahead of the Beijing Games by advising athletes about new drug testing rules.

US delegation members will be subject to International Olympic Committee (IOC) rules from Sunday's opening of the Olympic Village through the closing ceremony on August 24, meaning they can be tested anywhere in the world.

Internet and telephone call sessions with team leaders were among the ways USADA brought athletes up to speed on the regulations.

USADA has also emphasized communicating with athletes who have asked for theraputic-use exemptions from Olympic doping regulations because of a medical condition with drugs prescribed by a physician.
