FOOTBALL 2007-2008 Lens - Roux - 0

NANCY 4-1 AUXERRE

Nancy were never bothered by 17th-placed Auxerre, scoring through Malonga Ntsayi, Kim, Frederic Biancalani and Marc-Antoine Fortune.

----

BORDEAUX 2-2 LORIENT

Nancy have 13 points from five matches, two points ahead of Lorient, who snatched a last-gasp, 2-2 draw at Girondins Bordeaux.

David Bellion netted a double for Bordeaux but the former Manchester United striker's efforts were twice cancelled by Rafik Saifi in the 15th and Hamed Namouchi one minute from time.

----

MONACO 3-1 LE MANS

Monaco, who came from behind to beat Le Mans 3-1, are third on 10 points.

Daitsuke Matsui opened the scoring for the visitors but three goals in 17 minutes by Leandro Cufre, with a penalty, Jeremy Menez and Frederic Piquionne gave the principality team all three points.

----

STRASBOURG 2-1 LENS

Four teams are on 10 points with Strasbourg in fourth place following their 2-1 win over Lens, which prompted coach Roux to resign at halftime.

Roux, who came out of retirement to take the reins of the northern side, quit after his team failed to win any of their four matches and scored only once.

The 68-year-old Roux had signed a two-year contract with Lens two seasons after he retired from the game upon completing a record-breaking 45 years' service at Auxerre.

Lens are second from bottom with two points from four games.

"When a player does not feel fit, it is his duty to tell his coach. When a coach feels the same, he must tell his president," Roux told French radio Europe 1.

"I could not hide that I did not have the kind of form that always enabled me throughout my career to get the best from the players.

"I told (club) president Gervais Martel to replace me with someone younger," he added.

Former France striker Jean-Pierre Papin, who was Strasbourg's coach last season, has been cited as a possible replacement for Roux.

----

VALENCIENNES 3-1 SOCHAUX

Valenciennes moved up to fifth after beating Sochaux 3-1 and are level on points with Le Mans, who led the standings with Lorient and Nancy before kickoff.

----

CAEN 1-2 MARSEILLE

Earlier on Saturday, Marseille tasted victory for the first time this season in Ligue 1 after goals by Julien Rodriguez and Mamadou Niang gave them a 2-1 win at promoted Caen.

Defender Rodriguez headed home from a Benoit Cheyrou free kick two minutes before the interval with Senegal's Niang doubling the tally from close range after being set up by fellow striker Djibril Cisse nine minutes into the second half.

Albert Emon's side, who wasted a 2-0 advantage at home against Nancy last weekend, moved up to 10th with six points.

The Normandy side, who have won one and lost three matches, lie 15th.

On Sunday, six-times champions Lyon will be looking to get back to their usual winning habit after two consecutive defeats when they entertain St Etienne.
