McAnuff misses Quakers clash

Mon 25 Aug, 03:45 PM

Watford manager Adrian Boothroyd will be without winger Jobi McAnuff for Tuesday's Carling Cup clash at home to League Two side Darlington.McAnuff lasted just 26 minutes of the Hornets' 3-2 defeat to Nottingham Forest on Saturday before hobbling off with an ankle injury.

It is not yet known how long the influential McAnuff will be sidelined but as Boothroyd tends to field a young side in the Carling Cup he will not be risked.

Will Hoskins scored the winner in the first-round victory over Bristol Rovers and will again start up front while Scott Loach will be handed more first-team experience in goal.

Other fringe players hoping for a chance include defender Adrian Mariappa and midfielders Lionel Ainsworth, Ross Jenkins and Lewis Young.

Goalkeeper Richard Lee is still not match fit after his knee injury while Theo Robinson fractured a bone in his arm against Bristol Rovers and is out.
