Midfielder Franck Moussa has confirmed that Southend will appeal against the red card he received against Brighton on Friday night.The teenager was dismissed by referee Jarnail Singh for a sliding challenge on Adam Virgo.

The Seagulls went on to score twice in the final 16 minutes to seal a 2-0 win and Moussa believes the dubious decision to send him off cost the Shrimpers the game.

"I didn't think it was the right thing at the time and having seen it on television again I still don't," he told the club's official website.

"I'm really disappointed because I know it changed the game. We played quite well in the first half and were definitely on top so it's hard to take, especially as we ended up losing.

"I've spoken to the manager though and we will be appealing, so hopefully we can sort something out."
