British handball ace Kelsi Fairbrother has signed for Danish team Frederikshavn FOX just months after she feared her dreams of playing professionally and making the 2012 Olympics were over.
The winger had a deal with TST Hjorring signed and sealed only for the Danish club to go out of business and leave Fairbrother stranded.
However with the help of Great Britain's Danish coach Jesper Holmris Fairbrother had a trial at FOX and was subsequently offered a contract.
Team GB are guaranteed their first ever place at an Olympic Games in 2012 provided they can be competitive and the growing list of professional players is certainly improving their chances.
Fairbrother, 19, has grabbed the opportunity with both hands, scoring seven times in three matches, and admitted she is relishing the challenge.
"'I had known of this team since arriving in Denmark as they have been up and down between the first division and pro league,"' said Fairbrother.
"'It's great to be playing for FOX and I am enjoying the beginning of my professional handball career. It's very different to anything I've ever done before as I'm living alone in a place I have never been to before but my new team-mates are great girls and I feel at home already.
"'FOX is an ambitious club, full of very young players who all want to achieve the same goal by playing in the best league in Denmark. I already feel as though we have a very strong team so bring on the season."
