Eurosport - Tue, 25 Aug 14:33:00 2009

Norwich manager Paul Lambert will monitor goalkeeper Ben Alnwick after he suffered a cut face during the Carling Cup defeat to Sunderland.

FOOTBALL Norwich goalkeeper Ben Alnwick, seen here suffering a facial injury during the 4-1 Carling Cup defeat to Sunderland - 0

The Canaries boss said: "Ben's face is a bit of a mess at the minute, so we just need to see how it settles down. He has got quite a bad gash under his eye. We will have to monitor him."

Lambert felt there were some positives to take from his side's 4-1 defeat to the Black Cats.

Teemu Tainio set the ball rolling for the Premier League club after 26 minutes, with Andy Reid chipping in a superb second and making it 3-0 before half-time.

Wes Hoolahan reduced the deficit just after the hour, only for Owain Tudur Jones to deflect a corner into his own net as City finished the match with only nine men after defender Michael Spillane was sent off for a professional foul on Frazier Campbell and Alnwick suffered his face injury.

Lambert said: "We started really well, and had some good chances, but when you make individual errors, especially against calibre like that, you will get punished.

"There were some positives to come out of it, and the negatives, well I have already seen them. It is not about a magic wand, it is to try to get the club up the league."

  1. I have lived in Norwich, ever since the time my mother. spewed me out of her sewer into a grey February morning.
It was a cold dark night. the mist was swirling around the Norfolk and Norwich hospital.
the moon shone through for a brief second, before being swollowed again in a devouring devilish dirty fog.
The poor old midwife screamed and ran down the ward slapping herself as she went..
My good old mother, looked in horror at my father.Who as it happens turns out to be my uncle as well.
But i digress, the midwife was still screaming, slapping her self and the nurse who asked her what the matter was.
And she told the nurse that the baby she had just delivered, had webbed feet...
The nurse laughed a hearty laugh and thought she must be from outside of Norfolk!
and told her to look at all the other children's feet in the ward....Look she said its normal for Norfolk.
some have webbed feet, some have webbed hands.. but that the hands was a rare one, as that is passed from father to daughter, and only happens about one in every ten kids.
Most of our inflictions here are deafness dumbness and blindness
So dont worry your pretty foriegn head about it. they will all grow up to be Norwich city supporters anyway!
And so it has come to pass that the good inbred people of Norwich city are DEAF DUMB AND BLIND.
For they continue to follow blindly and mutely as there team is run into the ground by Delia smith....the self confessed Ipswich supporter.
So as Delia grows rich off the backs of the Norwich city faithful....they all follow follow..the Ignorance of the inbred supporters is quite astounding.
for they surely must be 1st class simpletons of the highest degree, to put up with the club. they say they love.
And stand by and watch it run into the laughing stock of British football.
The foreign nurse went back home to London bye the way..Just in case you were wondering like! these cockney's never stay the course.
un like the Norwich city fans who are ha

  2. who are having a whale of a time in thinking that they are a forward thinking club
Reborn in an afternoon, with paul lambo at the helm. and beating W W five two. Oh yes W W a former non league club.
So the sister sleeping supporters hale the new coming! the board rest safe in the knowledge that the fans are as thick as a ...Well an inbred of course they no the score... they no they are safe. so they will continue too miss manage a once great club...they were handed the mandate from Robert chase..
and told to run with it. and so they have...and so the ambitions of the board will be realised and Norwich will undoubtedly become a non league club.
That is unless the blood of Norfolk is diluted by some outsiders from say London or god bless from Suffolk..they no what true ambition is they have the manager and the board in place.
WAKE up people too how your club is being run.....
