Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor will continue to show "emotion" when he celebrates goals despite facing an FA charge for improper conduct.
The Togo striker has until Wednesday to appeal the charge which was levelled at him for celebrating in front of fans of former club Arsenal after scoring for City as they won 4-2 at the City of Manchester Stadium. Adebayor ran the length of the pitch to celebrate in front of the Arsenal fans who he claimed had abused him during the game.
"I am not afraid and I will still celebrate with emotion," Adebayor told ShortList magazine.
"When you start to take emotion out of football you are going to have a very big problem. For the fans and the players it is a very emotional game, and when you take out emotion you have to question if people still care about the game.
"It is just one of those things that happens in football when emotions are high. When you are being abused for the whole game it affects you. People are saying 10 seconds like it is a long time but it isn't.
"The whole of that 10 seconds I was running and I was running on pure emotion. I was not thinking like I would normally do."
Adebayor claims he did nothing to provoke the abuse from the Arsenal fans.
"I was disappointed because I very much enjoyed my time at Arsenal. An offer came in for me and the club decided to accept it, I did not make any trouble and I did not say anything in the papers to try and get myself a move."
He does not believe the Arsenal fans will cause trouble during the return match at Emirates Stadium on April 24.
"I have already said I am ready for the return game. I don't think there will be trouble, it is a long time away and people have a lot of time to calm down."

It's up to the FA to be consistent. Neville got away with it on Sunday so they should drop the charge again Ade or the message it sends out is that it's not who you are it but rather who is in your back pocket. Not surprised Red Rags didn't spend much this summer, had to keep it too bribe refs and the FA so they can get away with whatever they want. Shame on the FA, making the EPL look like a joke!!!

I think these sort of celebrations just go to show what a spoilt overpaid rabble the modern day footballers are - I dont remember Georgie Best or Bobby Charlton sliding on their knees and goading the away fans, then again they were real men who played real football unlike the overpaid idiots mostly from overseas that we have now.

Even us fans we have emotions too.You need to see my emotions and celebrations especially infront of ManU fans when we trash them 4-1 at OT.Infact I knew they felt it and at last as usual we normally shake hands and say FAIR PLAY.Spur fans though few here made fun of me when they won us on the 1st day.I was bemused but at the end we shoke hands in the name of fair play.FA should allow players as well to celebrate the way they like but at the end both them and opposite fans(players) should have fair play too.That makes the game to be more lively and interesting.
Neville got away with this at the weekend and previous players that have done this have got a fine and a warning. Any more than this will show the that the world really is out to knobble City. By the way why are Yahoo using pictures of Adebayor and Barry on the City home page showing them wearing the kits of their former clubs?
