Charlton's promotion hopes have been dealt a huge blow with the news striker Svetoslav Todorov is out for the rest of the season. The 29-year-old Bulgarian, who joined the Addicks from Portsmouth in the summer, was stretchered out of Tuesday night's 2-1 home defeat by Plymouth Argyle following a heavy challenge from Krisztian Timar.
A scan has revealed he suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament, and also sustained a small fracture in his knee, which will require reconstructive surgery.
Todorov suffered a similar injury while at Fratton Park and was ruled out for all but one game of the 2003/4 season and the whole of the following campaign.
