The 17-year-old striker, who spent five days with the Gelenkirchen club, was pleased with his time in Germany and hopes he did enough to win a permanent move to the Veltins-Arena.

"I am delighted with my stay at Schalke. I think I have performed very well there," he told Bulgarian radio Gong.

"I played one game for the Under-19 team and all my team-mates were older than me. We faced a senior amateur team and won 4-0. I scored the second and the fourth goal in the game.

"I hope that Schalke authorities are also pleased. They have told me that they want to watch me in two more games for Levski or the Bulgarian youth national team before starting transfer talks with my club.

"I hope this transfer will go through as it will mean a dream coming true for me. I want to go abroad and make a step forward in my development."

Tabakov - who could now become the second Levski youngster to move to the Bundesliga this season after 19-year-old Atanas Kurdov joined Bayer Leverkusen in July - was impressed with the set-up at Schalke and was made to feel at home during his short stay there.

"Everything at Schalke was very different from Bulgaria. The club has unique training facilities," he said.

"All my team-mates welcomed me as we have been friends for a long time. They have helped me a lot and this boosted my confidence."
