Belfast Giants moved to the top of the Elite League with an impressive 3-0 victory over former leaders Nottingham Panthers.
Giants stretched their winning run to five games as Great Britain goalkeeper Stephen Murphy produced a 29-shot shut-out.
In contrast, it is the third consecutive away defeat for previous pacesetters Nottingham.
New Giants signing Jeff Szwez, an arrival from American Hockey League Philadelphia Phantoms, scored twice while Colin Shields completed the one-sided victory.
Cardiff Devils moved second with a comprehensive 9-2 home win over Newcastle Vipers.
Max Birbraer contributed an Elite League record seven assists while Cardiff's Mark Smith and Brad Voth both grabbed hat-tricks.
Basement side Edinburgh Capitals needed a penalty shoot-out to get the better of Sheffield Steelers.
Simon Lambert's made the decisive contribution with two strikes and a penalty winning shot as Sheffield's woeful home run - they've won just once in seven games - continued.
Lambert opened Edinburgh's account and Michael Benyon doubled their advantage with a powerplay strike.
Sheffield were always in the game though and responded with three goals in five minutes - a Rod Sarich double and Doug Sheppard strike.
Benyon restored parity before the third period saw the teams trade four goals - Joey Talbot and Matt Hubbauer netting for Sheffield and Martin Cingel and Ben O'Connor responding for the visitors.
Overtime remained goalless and Lambert settled it in the shoot-out.
