Ablett takes the positives

Stockport boss Gary Ablett could not fault the effort of his players despite watching them crash to a 2-0 defeat at Brentford.

Goals either side of the break from Charlie MacDonald and substitute Myles Weston ensured the points went to the Londoners.

Ablett said: "We defended reasonably well but we were poor in terms of possession and passing.

"After half-time we passed the ball better with more tempo and created some decent chances, but we need to make better decisions in the box.

"The boys tried as hard as they could and it was a vast improvement on last week so there are positives to take from it. We have to roll our sleeves up and keep going because realistically if we'd scored at the right times the outcome here might have been different."

  1. Who you kidding Ablett? ****ing yes man and apologist for the consortium.
Take Southampton out of the relegation places, (which they inevitably will be in the next week or two), and County are in the bottom four heading down. Come Xmas they will well and truly mired and these "owners" will sell Carl Baker and every other player that they can pawn for 30 pieces of silver or less.
Bloody shame because if they had had any intention at all of strengthening the squad then the basis is there for a team who could easily be at the other end of the table. After the January sales I predict that there will be nowt left to build on. Pretty obvious why they didn't want Jim Gannon, he wouldn't have stood for it.
At least the consortium can't sell off 47 - 48 years of memories.
