Parry takes the positives

Tranmere caretaker boss Les Parry feels his struggling side produced one of their "best performances of the season" in a 1-0 defeat at Hartlepool.

A goal by Peter Hartley two minutes before half-time earned Pools victory, as they moved into 10th spot in League One following their second win in succession.

Rovers were down to 10 men for the closing stages after substitute Charlie Barnett was red carded for a two-footed tackle on Neil Austin.

Parry said: "I've seen managers react to results, but I've been quite pleased today, it was one of the best performances of the season and I take a lot of positives from it.

"We know it's always cold and windy up here and we had to combat that and the opposition and we did that. When we spoke last week the one thing I was confident about was a performance and apart from first 15 minutes of the second half when we didn't come out of the dressing room and we let them come at us, I felt we dominated.

"Every single one of our set plays worked. I said to the lads when I took over I would react to performances and not results."
