Aston Villa skipper Stiliyan Petrov refused to use the size of Wolves' pitch as an excuse for their poor showing in Saturday's derby clash.
The width of the Molineux surface did not allow James Milner and Ashley Young to play to their strengths for Villa in the 1-1 draw, but Petrov made little of it.
He said: "Some pitches are getting smaller and smaller but we just need to adapt and make no excuses.
"When the big teams like Manchester United and Liverpool come here to Molineux, they won't have that excuse.
"They will try to adapt and win the game and that's what we tried to do.
"We were on the back foot. We were under pressure from the start. We couldn't keep the ball. Sometimes in games like that we need to take the sting out of the game and make the opposition chase the ball more."

against a weak side villa should of slaughtered, but again the weakness of sidwell, who missed so many chances, gave the ball away so many times and more importantly gave the penalty away,
i still say sidwell should not be in the team along with the donkey heskey, and if carew cant play in the rain someone buy him a umbrella, lets hope downing can move sidwell out of the team.
some one @villa talking sence for a change, it must b a blue moon, but in full agreement, if villa are going to b a top 6 team no disrespect to Wolves but villa need to b going to these places and taking all the points
