Northampton boss Ian Sampson saw his side maintain their impressive resurgence with a fine 4-2 win at Morecambe.

Three goals in the final 20 minutes of the game saw the Cobblers become the first side this season to leave Christie Park with three points and Sampson admitted he was absolutely delighted with their comeback after trailing 2-1 at the break.

He said: "I thought the win was thoroughly deserved. Even at half-time when were 2-1 down I thought we had done well and got in some good positions without really working their keeper hard enough.

"We changed things around a little bit in the second half and I thought we were excellent. We played some great attacking football and the effort from all the players was fantastic.

"We got in their faces a little bit more in the second half because they had too much time to pass the ball around in the first 45.

"We put the pressure on them in the second half and our second goal came about as a fantastic move which was the result of something we tell the lads to do in training. John Johnson capped a terrific game with our third and I was delighted for Bayo Akinfenwa's goal late on because he worked really hard all afternoon."
