International Football - Beckham fires Galaxy to title
David Beckham scored a goal to help fire his LA Galaxy side to Major League Soccer's Western Conference title.
Needing a victory in their final match of the regular season, Galaxy went behind after 22 minutes against FC Dallas.
But Beckham linked up with former Everton loan star Landon Donovan to score a crucial leveller 11 minutes later before Brazilian star Juninho netted the winner in the second half.
Galaxy manager Bruce Arena paid tribute to 35-year-old Beckham, saying that the Englishman's inspirational display was his best of the season.
"I felt the last game was my best performance but if Bruce says that, then I will take that," Beckham told the LA Galaxy website.
"I'm just trying to get my match fitness back and in the last couple of games I felt really good, so I am happy that the manager thinks that about me."
Beckham will now lead his team-mates into the play-offs, with the Seattle Sounders first up.
