Premier League - Gallas 'won't leave Arsenal'

Eurosport - Tue, 25 Nov 15:20:00 2008

William Gallas's agent has said the embattled Arsenal centre-back is not looking to leave the Emirates Stadium.

Gallas has been stripped of the Gunners captaincy after publicly making critical remarks about the team and questioning their fighting spirit.

He has since been linked with a move away from north London, with Paris Saint-Germain one possible destination, but agent Etienne Mendy has dismissed reports his client wants to quit the Gunners.

"William doesn't express himself and the English media take advantage of that," Mendy told French paper Aujourd'hui Sport.

"They haven't missed a chance to do that ever since his bad-mood gesture last year at Birmingham, and they envisage him leaving Arsenal. That is wrong."

Gallas, 31, was dropped from Arsenal's matchday squad for last Saturday's 3-0 defeat to Manchester City but will be recalled to the starting XI for Tuesday's Champions League match against Dynamo Kiev.

And Mendy predicted Gallas will come back better then ever.

"He has taken the criticism and has already moved on," Mendy added.

"Anyway, William is never better than when he has his back to the wall."

  3. lets be honest here gallas is a world class player,.. i agree with everything he has said i think the younger players do need to respect there older team mates and if the player in question is out of order he neeeds to be put in his place.
the way gallas went about it was all wrong he should have done it in house and not wrote it in his book to generate more cash from sales.. there should be some rule brought in from the fa,uefa or fifa saying you cant write a biography if yr still playing obviously it causes to much trouble.
i dont think he should leave i think hes to good of a player to let go because of this arsenal are not man u and cant get the money they can to replace out of order players.

clearly something needs to be done coz arsenal are proper on the slide and i dont see how making cesc captain is goin to change that, its time they put the money where there mouth is and either go in for alonso or barry coz you can win things with kids but you cant win things with lack of experience.

  4. absolutely agree with Walter Von Doom...Gallas is class when it comes to defending esp. when he was a chelski player but he never really impressed in arsenal...and his comments really affected his team's spirit so i think it's time to sell him...may b PSG is his next destination...what arsenal needs is 2 big defenders and a strong holding midfielder...some1 like yaya toure...

  5. No we cannot take drastic decision it wiil spoil the team spirit somemore, Let give gallas chance and ask to cocentrate at defence only. For the time being this is best way to move the team back to top four. For the entire team Arsenal need one experience defender to lead the back and need a midfielder to control the engine room and then at the attack also we need to get a cool and experince striker who can make half chance to goal (not Aderbayor)or can score goal in crucial time, At the moment we see only during injury time we lost the game.Things can be change Come on babies you can do it just we need a little twinning we can be back to top.

  6. I think he needs to leave. This man is a cancer to the team and isn't even playing well this season. Wenger and the upper management need to get together and see who they can bring in to replace Gallas. They need to look for a veteran defenseman who can lead the young defensive core the Gunners have now. This team can still win the title, but they need to start doing things now. Then make some good pick ups in January.
