Gooch and Warne's bald-cure ad ban

Eurosport - Wed, 25 Nov 10:45:00 2009

Hair-replacement adverts featuring cricket legends Shane Warne and Graham Gooch have been banned by an advertising watchdog.

Shane Warne with his hair - 0

The Australian spinner and former England captain have been featured prominently in advertising for the Advanced Hair Studio for several years, usually with close-ups of Gooch's head in 'before and after' condition following strand-by-strand replacement.

But a new advert that also featured the company's laser hair treatment has fallen foul the Advertising Standards Agency, with the watchdog ruling that it is misleading.

The advert - featuring a grinning Warne with the line "I stopped worrying about my hair when I heeded the Warne-ing signs and saw Advanced Hair Studio" - was deemed to imply that the laser procedure would produce the same hair replacement results as the strand-by-strand method.

The shine was taken off the advert when an examination of the bald facts showed this not to be the case, and the advertisement - unlike Warne and Gooch - will need a bit of a trim before it can appear again.

  1. Some women might have a fetish about balled-headed men - not me, I love long hair, it's manly and far sexier! ;)

  2. hair loss is a disease, just like any other, we were born to have hair on our heads, that is why 70/80 year olds still have there hair,

. men who loose there hair are sick /diseased, the bodies natural harmony has broken down, resulting in low energy feilds which supply the nessary energy to chakra harmony, this is then leads to the phsyiological depletion of hormones and thus hair loss, in the physical realm.

stress, fear and anxiety compound the initial onset of this condition, further leading to a 'self fullfilling prophecy' leading to more stress, fear and anixety which further depletes the bodies natural balance .

one day people will realize that the human body is working on many levels both physical and spiritual, there will be a cure for hair loss , as any other disease when man comes to realize his true nature and live in harmony with it. all other cosmetic intervention is just money making lies.

love yourself, be in harmony and balance with your true nature and hair will return naturally, this is the way to any level of health.

but who is prepared to look within for the answers? the only price to pay is your soul, and this has nothing to do with being religous. the is the truth and it is free, the answer is within,

    join me and destroy baldness

  3. Oi slapheads! Stop telling each other how great it is to be a baldie, you bunch of eggheads.

Only jesting. Some advice to lilywang, 137, I wouldnt go with the 40 year old if I was you. Choose somebody your own age and "have fun" together. Whoever agrees give lily a thumbs up.

  6. Advanced Hair Studios will charge you £3,000.00 for a hairpiece, then you go back every month to have it taken off, cleaned and stuck back on again. Thats called a refusion, for which they charge £65.00 - that along with the various wig shampoos they will sell you, is £4,000.00 a year. After a year your hair piece will need replacing, thats another £3,000.00 so you will be committed to paying out £4,000.00 a year EVERY year! Another nightmare is that your friends, and workmates are used to seeing you with a full head of hair, so you are now trapped in a situation where you are committed to paying AHS £4,000.00 EVERY year! The salesman is eager to sell you a £3,000.00 hairpiece, because he gets £500.00 commision per sale!! Advanced Hair Studios success is based not on what they tell you - but what they DONT tell you!! Summing up, yes being bald is a nightmare, but not as big a nightmare as you will find yourself in once you are a customer with ADVANCED HAIR STUDIOS.

  7. Advanced Hair Studio should give a couple days 'cooling off' once they have 'glued' a hairpiece (Indian hair) or so called 'strand by strand', on to your head. It has been known to feel uncomfortable and itchy, and even after less than a day if you want it removed they will do it for free BUT will not refund even a cent of the $10,000 approx that they slug for the privelege of discomfort.

  8. Warney was actually prosecuted once by AHS for admitting it was all a con. I guess it went against the contract he had with them. Minoxidil (sold as Regaine) is the only product that works, but I think it costs loads and you have to use it forever! I'm 38 in December, still not bald or a single gray hair...Just as well cos I look like Terry Nutkins enough as it is! ;)

  11. There are some golden rules on Male grooming especially the hair region (1) NEVER colour your hair if you are trying to hide grey hair (unless you have the time and money to get this performed professionally and every two weeks !!!) and (2) NEVER have any hair transplants/grafting or hair line re-alignment it always becomes more apparent/visible over the next few years as you lose more hair and most importantly in over 27 years working with hair I have never seen any hair transplants that make the client look good/attractive/sexy !!! if you want an honest answer/opinion ask any lady or man whether a man looks more attractive/sexy with a transplant or more attractive/sexy with very short hair (or shaven head) if he is losing his hair or has lost his hair !!! Jason Statham, Vin Diesel and Bruce Willis all look very sexy with their heads shaved even Harry Hill looks cool with no hair!!! so dont waste your time or money if you have both go join a gym then you will gain a good body, get fit and have great posture which will give you confidence and lots of sex appeal

  13. I am 65 still have all my own hair. A little thinner may be but the scalp does not show. Also most of it is still dark brown. I am paralised below the waist down so not at all concerned about baldness anywhere else.
Only wash your hair twice a week any more and you wash away all that is required to keep your healthy.

  19. I cut my hair off last summer. I had long blonde ringlets all the way down my back and cut it really short, so the longest strand was eye-length, and donated it to a foundation that makes free wigs for women who lose their hair to chemotherapy. Maybe I should start doing the same for men (once it grows back).

  20. When my hair fell out I had my scalp tattooed with a nice 'full head of hair' pattern, complete with side parting. This gives me a natural, if somewhat greasy look. But I don't think anyone has noticed, well I don't think so anyway
