Baggies take look at Haber

West Brom have taken Canadian forward Marcus Haber on trial.

The 20-year-old is currently with Vancouver Whitecaps in his homeland but is keen to return to Europe having previously been on the books at Dutch side FC Groningen, where failed to make it into their first team.

Haber had trials with Leeds, Gillingham and Hartlepool last year, but a move did not materialise and he joined the Whitecaps in February.

After a successful campaign in Canada, he has now joined Albion on trial and will look to impress manager Roberto Di Matteo over the next week.

"He's a striker, has good credentials and we are always interested at looking at players," Di Matteo told the Birmingham Mail.

"But I have no plans to bring anyone else in on trial as we have such a busy schedule coming up."

  1. Maybe he is one for the future ? I doubt if he is the­ finished article yet. Can't be as bad as MacDonald­ ! It will
    be interesting to see if we spend anything­ in the window. We all know that we need to speculate­ to accumalate.
    The problem is "Uncle Jeremy"­ won't spend in the winter.

    Is this going to cause­ a bit of friction with RDM. Can't remember who our­ last big signing was, in the January
    window. Lets see­ what happens.

  2. Agreed, really if he cant get a game at Gillingham or­ Hartlepool why would he do a job for super­ baggies?
    lets get a known goalscorer that will give us­ the edge over our promotion rivals.Look at the top 20­ goalscorers in the league.. we aint got one in there!!!­ and we're still top o the league, one great signing­ away from running away with the championship, c'mon­ JP dig deep!

  4. No disrespect to the kid, but a) who is he and b) is he­ going to be the answer to our goal plight (forward line­ only)? RDM get JP to spend some of that cash! Speculate­ to accumulate, show some ambition and get a decent­ striker in!
