Brunt to show Owls respect

Wed, 25 Nov 15:43:55 2009

West Brom's leading scorer Chris Brunt has vowed not to celebrate if he adds to his goals tally at former club Sheffield Wednesday.

The Albion winger, who played for the Owls between March 2004 and August 2007, is keen to increase his five-goal total on his return to Hillsborough on Saturday but admitted he would `think twice' about celebrating out of respect for the Yorkshire club.

"The time I had at Sheffield Wednesday was a great time. I've got a lot of respect for the club and the fans and the management staff, so I would have to think twice about celebrating," Brunt told the Express & Star.

"But I will be trying to score because three points is what we're going there for to keep us ticking along and hopefully get the bigger prize at the end of the season.

"The club was always good to me and I enjoyed my time there. They were the club that gave me my foothold in football.

"I had four managers in three seasons there, which was not ideal, but it was a great experience. It's a massive club and they've got some good people."

  1. Let's see what the new boys do teamstone eh !
Cant be any worse than current efforts on goal. Let's hope Laws has pulled the rabbit from the hat to give us all a much needed lift.If we can't do it with half the baggies on a sick note I think I MAY TAKE UP BOWLS it is a bit less stressfull.

    UP THE OWLS !!1

  2. is it a fair point though. Btrunt left the owls when the baggies were a championship side. He is coming back to you after one season in the premiership. So, he's hardly been spoiled.
Thing is though i'm looking for another job. I'm doing it because i think my current employers need better than me. But i've reached a certain standar which makes it more difficult to move on and still improve myself. Why do we think footballers shouldn't move on?
Mind you i think its great when they stay too. (If they are any good). Remember Bomber Brown, Never my favourite baggie but he stuck with us a long long time. Also, when we get relegated again which players will leave us next time.
its a funny old world innit

  3. its a fair point barnowl but lets be honest looking at our clubs situation would you have stayed?? all our decent younger players have been let go and all our hopes are being pinned on the likes of purse, johnson and varney, not a good plan is it?

on a lighter note someone has told me that varney will run all the way back to derby if he ever scores....oh well looks like were stuck with him then!!!!

do you think woody will celebrate when he comes back with coventry?......my moneys on him to celebrate in front of our dugout and then knock purses zimmer frame over!!!!

  4. Shame you did'nt show a bit of loyalty Chris. Chase the buck that's what it's all down to now. Premiership ruining the game with fantasy money while the rest strugle
for survival.Who is going to invest in a team like the owls, exept some millionair fan ?
They are a bit thin on the ground at present.
