Gradi happy to see Alex playing the right way

Caretaker manager Dario Gradi believes Crewe's "very important" 2-1 victory over Burton highlights the fact Alex are playing good football once again.

First-half goals from Clayton Donaldson and Joel Grant sank Albion as Crewe ended a five-game winless streak at Gresty Road. Richard Walker bundled home a consolation goal deep into injury-time but it was too little too late for Burton.

"The fans have suffered of late but they accepted the defeats as we were giving it a go. But you can't keep on losing as the fans will get fed up, so this win was very important," said Gradi.

"But we are playing nice football again and I would pay to come and watch us play. My assistant Steve Davis said it was great to see Crewe playing football again.

"That is why I am here and that is what it will be all about as long as the board want it that way."

After building on Saturday`s 2-2 draw at Northampton, Gradi added: "If you told me beforehand we would have got four points from our last six I would have bitten your hand off."
