Struggling Lincoln saw off the challenge of Dagenham & Redbridge as a 2-0 win put daylight between themselves and the bottom two.City edged in front after 15 minutes when top scorer Ben Wright powered in a header from six yards. Jamie Forrester then went close but was denied by Daggers goalkeeper Ed Thompson.
Dagenham, who rarely threatened in the first half, took control after the break and were unlucky not to find the net. They bombarded the Lincoln goal which led a charmed life at times.
Substitute Jamie Taylor got clean through in the 59th minute but lost control at the vital moment and Lincoln escaped. Four minutes later Ben Strevens saw a goalbound shot deflected wide by Paul Green.
Dagenham had the ball in the net in the 88th minute when City goalkeeper Alan Marriott appeared to carry the ball over his own line but referee Clive Oliver ruled out the effort for a foul on the keeper.
Lincoln then broke away in the fifth minute of stoppage-time with Mark Stallard setting up an easy goal for Dany N'Guessan.
