Danny North rescued a point for Grimsby with an injury-time equaliser in a 1-1 draw against 10-man Shrewsbury at Blundell Park.Guy Madjo had put the Shrews ahead in the 75th minute after centre-back Colin Murdock had been sent off 10 minutes after the break for a professional foul.
The visitors asked all the questions in the first half. First Murdock saw a header from a corner held low down by Phil Barnes. Then Ben Davies, put through by Marc Pugh, saw his right-foot shot brilliantly saved by Barnes.
Shrewsbury were reduced to 10 men in the 56th minute when last defender Murdock brought down North and referee Dave Foster produced a red card.
But the visitors still looked the more dangerous and Kelvin Langmead saw a header from a Davies corner cleared off the line by Peter Till.
A catalogue of errors gifted them the lead.
Danny Boshell sold Barnes short with a backpass which was picked up by Dave Hibbert. His weak shot was fumbled by Barnes into the path of Madjo who fired home.
But North earned Grimsby a point when he diverted Boshell's shot from the edge of the box past goalkeeper Glynn Garner.
