Sunderland full-back Stephen Wright's loan switch to Championship outfit Hull is on hold after the defender picked up a groin injury. The 27-year-old right-back was due to join the Tigers on loan for the rest of the season with a view to a permanent move after being told by Roy Keane he can leave Wearside.
But he broke down in training and the Tigers are not willing to press ahead with the transfer, but they could still sign the former Liverpool man on an emergency loan after the January transfer window.
Wright - who spent a five-month loan spell with Stoke at the start of the season - is destined to leave the Black Cats and has even lost the squad number he was allocated to new signing Jean-Yves M'voto.
