Fergie Pleased With Power

Manager Sir Alex Ferguson believes Manchester United have the power to go with the glory.

The Old Trafford boss is delighted at the way his side have seen out games in recent weeks and not wilted.

They host Tottenham on Sunday in the FA Cup on the back of four straight wins and four straight clean sheets.

Ferguson said: "There is a draining effect because of the number of games but our team have been in good form.

"We were strong looking in the last 20 minutes against Aston Villa and were strong in the second half when we faced Newcastle.

"Then at Reading - which was a big physical test - we had our best stats in terms of kilometres run.

"That has given me great encouragement. This is a powerful team, who can endure competition."

Ferguson's comments have been endorsed by leading scorer Cristiano Ronaldo.

"We have a good fitness coach. I feel good, I feel strong, " said the Portugal winger.

"The games are tough, especially as we have Arsenal and Chelsea around us at the top of the league.

"We need to be strong, both physically and mentally. At this moment the lads are very fit."

Ferguson is pleased with the options at his disposal, especially in the middle of the park now that Paul Scholes is set to return from a knee operation.

He could be involved for the first time since October in the fourth round match.

Ferguson said: "We have so many choices in that area, which is good.

"In my experience when the season starts to boil, everyone will play their part.

"Paul will bring experience at an important part of the season.

"We have 15 league games left and hopefully a few more European ties as well.

"We are very buoyed by Paul coming back - he is like a new signing for us."

Tottenham have not won at Old Trafford since 1989 but are in good heart after dismantling Arsenal to reach the Carling Cup final.

Ferguson said: "The draw has not favoured us as we are up against another Premier League side but at least we are at home.

"Funnily enough the scoring stats are not that great when we meet them at Old Trafford.

"It is usually at White Hart Lane where there are a few goals. So I think it will be another tight game."

Meanwhile Gary Neville is due to step up training after a long-standing ankle problem while Louis Saha could be back in about 10 days following a knee injury.
