Two-times European champions London Wasps crashed out of the Heineken Cup with a 21-15 defeat against Castres at Stade Pierre Antoine.

Ian McGeechan's men needed a bonus-point win to top Pool 2 and book a place in the quarter-finals, but they fell short against the French side and missed out on one of two places awarded to pool runners-up.

Full-back Thomas Bouquie burst through to score the opening try of the match for Castres on 14 minutes, before flanker Chris Mascoe added another score 10 minutes later.

Wasps responded with a superb individual try from England fly-half Danny Cipriani and took the lead on 67 minutes when Dom Waldouck finished a fine team move.

But after Wasps had spurned several chances to increase their lead, Bouquie scored a second try and Romain Teulet converted to seal victory.

Leinster 12-3 Edinburgh

Leinster progressed to the quarter-finals with a 12-3 victory against Edinburgh at RDS Stadium that saw the Irish side finish top of Pool 2.

Felipe Contepomi kicked four penalties for the home side, with Chris Paterson replying with a solitary three-pointer for the Scottish visitors.

Montauban 13-39 Munster

Munster secured a home tie in the quarter-finals with an emphatic 39-13 victory against Montauban at Stade Sapiac.

Tomas O'Leary, Lifiemi Mafi (2) and Barry Murphy (2) went over for the Irish side, with Ronan O'Gara contributing 14 points in conversions and penalties.

Bath 3-3 Toulouse

Bath and Toulouse were assured of a place in the quarter-finals before their Pool 5 meeting, but victory could have earned either side a home tie.

The 3-3 draw in appalling conditions at The Rec means both sides will face trips away in the last eight.

Butch James put Bath ahead with an early penalty, but Jean-Baptiste Elissalde levelled the match midway through the first half to end the scoring for the afternoon.

Glasgow Warriors 13-10 Newport-Gwent Dragons

Glasgow finished their Heineken Cup campaign with victory against the Dragons at Hughenden to secure third place in Pool 5.

Winger Ruaridh Jackson scored the only try for the home side, with scrum-half Colin Gregor adding eight points with his boot.

Glasgow's points came courtesy of a try from prop Tom Willis, a conversion from James Arlidge and a late penalty from Shaun Connor.

Heineken Cup quarter-final line-up:

  2. No hope about Bath. Munster will be the team to beat. Cardiff look very good as well but Leinster have won there group playing ordinary rugby. If they kick into gear then they are the dark hourses.
