Ricardo Oliveira has been told he will have to take a pay cut if he is to rejoin Real Betis.

The Brazilian striker spent a successful year with the Andalucian outfit in the 2004-05 season, scoring 22 goals in 37 league games.

However, he fell out with Manuel Ruiz de Lopera after he returned late from holiday, and the Betis owner said he would sell Oliveira to a team in the Russian lower leagues.

Instead he was sent out on loan to Sao Paulo before being bought by Milan.

"It would be great to return to Betis. No fans have treated me as well since I left and they have always supported me," Oliveira told Spanish radio.

Betis coach Paco Chaparro has been looking for a striker, but the Verdiblancos cannot match the reported £2.35 million salary Oliveira currently picks up at La Romareda.
