Barrichello 'to test Indy Car'
Brazilian Formula One driver Rubens Barrichello will test with the KV Racing Technology IndyCar team in Florida next week, according to a report.
Speed TV's website said the 39-year-old, who has been replaced at Williams by compatriot Bruno Senna for this season, will test at Sebring with KV Racing's Brazilian Tony Kanaan on Tuesday and Wednesday.
It cautioned however that it was not clear how seriously Barrichello was taking the test.
He and Kanaan are old friends but Barrichello, the most experienced driver in Formula One history, has said in the past that he has promised his wife he will never race on American ovals.
A spokesman for KV Racing, along with team co-owner Jimmy Vasser, declined to comment on the report when contacted by Reuters.
Barrichello began racing in F1 in 1993, the year before his friend and mentor Ayrton Senna was killed in a crash at Imola, and has competed for Jordan, Stewart, Ferrari, Honda, Brawn and Williams.
A team-mate to Michael Schumacher at Ferrari, in 2010 he became the first driver to compete in 300 Formula One races.
The Sao Paulo native has 11 career wins on the F1 circuit and 68 podiums.

good luck to u rubens u were a good driver in f1
I'm sure that did he not give those 15 races to Shorty and them 2 to Button he would have gained more respect by the teamowners and he would still have a drive in F1.
No he's of to the oldman's home in indy.
He got pretty much hammered by every team mate he ever had, He used moaning about Schumacher as a lever to get himself noticed, living off Schumacher's fame, a parasite, good riddance.
Only suckass racers drives for Indy so Welcome Ruben!!!! Go worlds greatest no.2 driver!!!!!
Indy Car racings boring and dangerous at the same time ,the beeb should get Aussie Super V8s
best touring cars in the world.
Dino post 6, BBC are showing half the races, that is not exactly "abandoning" F1 is it. If they abandoned it, they would not be showing any, not even highlights. Don't get carried away now. Take a reality check. Get the facts straight. And the BBC will have £25 million more to spend of sports that have much bigger public interest then F1 racing. At least you get half the races, boxing was always one of the biggest BBC audiences. Even boring old snooker used to get 20 million viewers watching finals and cost a fraction of what F1 costs in franchise fees and production. Why am I as a licence payer sending four idiots, with no dress sense, all over the world, staying in 5 star luxury, together with a crew of about 100 technicians, to watch a boring procession. And I'm a life long F1 fan, but the time comes when it should be shown by commercial tv and not the BBC
Rubens you are my all time favourite driver. I'm gutted you did not get a seat this season. Big mistake by all the p.r driven teams. But at least I'll save a lot of money not following F1 anymore decided to take a look at dragsters instead. Local track genuine interest in their fans and does'nt cost an arm and a leg to support. Plus no Bernie.
Can I echo some of those comments. Best of luck Rubens. A stalwart of F1 and a driver who should not have been passed over for a younger model. Rubens still has much to give and I wish him every success in whatever he decides to do now that F1 has made the mistake of leaving him without a drive
he took the honda/ brawn very close to winning the title and now he has been set aside in favour of a p as you go driver.
Come on BBC - Broadcast Indy if you are abandoning F1, give BE a black eye
One of the 'real' characters in F1. Never afraid to speak his mind no matter what emotions surfaced.
His record is not as good as some, partly because he was frequently cast as the second driver, but without his skill and consistancy many first drivers would not have won championships.
Always safe and fair in the way he drove. He will be missed, but better he leaves with his head held high.
A SAD; SAD loss to F!
Pay Drivers are a disgrace and a shameful aspect of F!; but when you have a rapacious money grabber running it what else can you expect.
Good luck Rubbie; all the very best; YOU WILL BE MISSED
Didn't Nigel Mansell do the same when 'Williams' dumped him?
I seem to remember he made a pretty good fist of it and I'm thinking Rubens could do just the same.
Good luck to him. Great guy.
grummps.
Good Luck Rubens !!!
I think this is great way for Rubens to carry on racing. It will take up a lot less of his time so he can be with his family more and he will be closer to Brazil too. This will be a sort of fun retirement for him. He has always been quick, fun, emotional and unlike a host of recent editions, a happy little hobbit that more usually than not had a smile on his face.
Good luck for the future Rubens.
