Bolton have completed the signing of United States defender Tim Ream from the New York Red Bulls for an undisclosed fee.

The 24-year-old, who has penned a three-and-a-half-year deal, has long been linked with a move to the Trotters and spent a week training with the club last year.

Ream's arrival, which is subject to international clearance and immigration formalities, comes just over a week afterEngland international Gary Cahill sealed his move to Chelsea.

Boss Owen Coyle said: "First and foremost we are absolutely delighted to secure Tim's services. He is a US international, a player that year on year has progressed and got better and he will continue to do that. He was trailed by a number of clubs, including West Brom and also Arsenal, who tried to sign him in the summer, so it is great he sees his future here.

"Tim is everything that we want in the players we are bringing to the club when we spend in the transfer market. He is young, has a tremendous attitude and a winning mentality. I know he will fit in well with the rest of the squad here at Bolton."

Ream has been a virtual ever-present for the Red Bulls over the last two Major League Soccer seasons and has played seven times for the USA team, making his full debut against South Africa in November 2010.

  1. Blonde...... I too have seen that article from Mugson and your right there was certainly no love between the two. We loved to hate him. However, I was quite interested in what he said about the Sporting Lisbon game in the UEFA cup, personally that set me back about 500 at the time. In reality he was " ordered to what constitutes as corruption to throw a game" by Fartside. This really gets on my T I. T. S and shows Gartside is a devious little fat. ¥$€? Who has nothing but his personal interests at heart I'll be surprised if he didn't have a wager on it.... Also to be honest I actually believe Mugson than Gartside...... I am in the midst of compiling a letter to Mr Gartside and see if I get a reply....... May well send one to Eddie Davies aswell

  2. We dont need morons on the Bolton site so sod off.I see red Megson as said he dont like Bolton fans, what a nerve that object as. Never once at Bolton did he warm to the fans, after a game he would run down the tunnel to get away.Remember Stelios, Campo the last match at home and that scum bag would not let the players come out and applaud the loyal fans, and he as the guts to call us, get lost Megs you ars----.
