Boss buoyed by board backing

Malky Mackay has admitted he has been "overwhelmed" by the backing given to him by Cardiff's board this season.

Mackay, who led the Bluebirds to the Carling Cup final with a penalty shootout victory over Crystal Palace on Tuesday, has only been in the job for seven months since arriving from Watford.

In that time he has completely revamped his squad and backroom team but maintained the same winning mentality at the club. And the Scot insists he has only been able to do that because of the support of chairman Dato Chan Tien Ghee and the rest of the directors at the Cardiff City Stadium.

"I'm overwhelmed with the support they've given me, the support our Welsh directors have given me, allowing me to bring in the staff I did - the staff who have integrated here," he said.

"Everyone's been pushing in one direction this season and the support I've been given to be allowed to put the structure in place that I wanted to put in place.

"They've backed me and I've been overwhelmed with the support."
