Defensive moves unlikely - Ferguson

Peterborough manager Darren Ferguson has no immediate plans to bolster his defensive options, despite the recent departure of two loan players.

Since Josh Thompson and Scott Wootton left London Road, Posh are short of cover should something happen to their first-choice centre-half partnership of Ryan Bennett and Gaby Zakuani.

It leaves youngster Peter Grant as the only other recognised central defender at the club, but Ferguson insists he will not be rushing out to make a permanent signing in that position before the transfer window closes on Tuesday.

"I'm not looking to bring anyone in defensively. We have Craig Alcock who would be able to play there without a problem if required," Ferguson said.

"People often forget that the loan window reopens a week after the transfer window shuts, so it is not a case of having to panic and sign someone quickly on a permanent deal.

"We could always draft someone in on loan if the need were to arise due to injury or suspension."
