Hibernian boss Pat Fenlon has labelled the Scottish FA's disciplinary trial-by-television process as "an insult to referees" and unfair on players.
Fenlon will be without Leigh Griffiths for Saturday's Clydesdale Bank Premier League clash with Rangers at Ibrox after the striker was handed a two-match ban.
Television footage appeared to show Griffiths making a one-fingered gesture to his own fans during his Hibernian's 3-2 defeat to St Johnstone and the SFA took action on that evidence.
It is the third occasion this season that Griffiths has been handed a suspension for making a gesture towards supporters and he will now miss league encounters with Rangers and Kilmarnock.
"My straight answer to whether I am in favour of trial by television would certainly be a no," said Fenlon. "I don't feel it is fair and the process at the moment is all one way - it has to work in favour of the players as well as against them.
"I personally think it's an insult to referees. Let them referee the games, they are not going to get everything right. That's the way football has always been and in my eyes a lot of the changes they are making to football are destroying the game and I don't believe it works."
