Goulding explains Robins' away-day success

Jeff Goulding feels Cheltenham's exceptional away record in npower League Two is partly down to the size of opponents' pitches.

The Robins, who have claimed 23 points out of a possible 36 on the road, boast a relatively small playing area at Whaddon Road where, the striker suggested, their natural counter-attacking game is a little stifled.

"When we go away from home the pitches are a little bit bigger than they are at Whaddon Road," Goulding told Press Association Sport.

"We are a counter-attacking team and the formation we play suits bigger pitches.

"I think we go away from home and we surprise teams. We start games quickly and that takes teams a bit by surprise and that's helped us.

"Obviously our results away from home have been good, but our home form has been good too."
