Motherwell have lost their appeal into Michael Higdon's one-match suspension for making an apparent gesture when celebrating his goal in Saturday's draw with Dundee United.
The Fir Park club contested Higdon's ban for allegedly breaching rule 200, which covers "offensive, insulting or abusive language and/or gestures".
However, the Scottish Football Association have confirmed the ban would stand and the 28-year-old striker will miss Saturday's Clydesdale Bank Premier League home match against St Johnstone.
