Davey: No regrets over selection

Tue 26 Feb, 08:45 PM

Simon Davey has defended his decision not to recall his cup-tied players for the weekend defeat at Norwich. The Barnsley manager kept faith with the same side that upset Liverpool at Anfield in the FA Cup and left Tony Warner, Lewin Nyatanga and Jon Macken out of his starting line-up.

Davey told the club's official website: "I have to look these players in the eye and how could I drop them after the performance at Liverpool?

"It was tough on Tony Warner, Lewin Nyatanga and Jon Macken, but we had the same situation a couple of weeks earlier with Jamal Campbell-Ryce.

"Sometimes you have to have a justifiable reason to drop players. I could not find a justifiable reason to drop players after the Liverpool game.

"That's why I went with the same team. I felt that changing that would have been the wrong decision."
