Veteran frontman Wayne Allison admitted his decision to leave Chesterfield was "borne out of frustration".The 39-year-old player/coach parted company with the Spireites on Monday by mutual consent after being limited to 11 appearances this season and missing out on becoming Lee Richardson's assistant following the departure of Bury-bound Alan Knill.
He told the club's official website: "I have had a good time here and have enjoyed it and perhaps the decision was borne out of frustration and these things happen in football.
"No doubt people will be saying one of the reasons I have left is because I didn't get the assistant manager job. But that was out of my hands and the manager decides who he wants around the club."
Allison was in charge of the Spireites' second-string prior to his departure and is hoping to continue to combine playing and coaching roles as he looks for a new employer.
"It would be an exciting prospect to do both again. I have a few things in the pipeline and this week I will be going to a couple of clubs and see what they do training wise," he added.
