Motherwell have signed former Rangers defender Bob Malcolm until the end of the season after his release from Derby last month.Malcolm, who can play in midfield or defence, had also been linked with a move to Major League Soccer side FC Dallas.
Malcolm made more than 100 appearances for Rangers before leaving the club for Derby in September 2006 after being deemed surplus to requirements by then-manager Paul Le Guen.
But he made just 14 appearances for the Pride Park club, including one in the Premier League in this season's 6-0 defeat at Liverpool.
He was loaned to QPR in November and played 11 times for the Championship side.
But his spell in England had an unhappy ending in January when he was banned from driving for 20 months after admitting being unfit to drive through drink.
Malcolm had been found asleep and twice the legal drink-drive limit in his car, which was parked in the middle lane of the M1, and was also fined £750 by Chesterfield magistrates.
Malcolm was released by Derby before the transfer window closed and has now agreed to join former Rangers team-mates Ross McCormack, Brian McLean, Stephen Hughes and Graeme Smith at Fir Park.
He will link up with Mark McGhee's squad for Wednesday night's SPL clash at Aberdeen.
