Smith Will Make Use Of Cousin

Tue 26 Feb, 04:09 PM

Rangers boss Walter Smith will continue to make use of Daniel Cousin while FIFA continue to drag their heels over his proposed move to Fulham.

Both clubs struck a deal on January 20 but the world body have yet to decide whether to sanction the transfer because Cousin has already played for two clubs this season.

The striker was on the scoresheet against Gretna at the weekend after being drafted back into Smith's plans with the blessing of Fulham, but the Ibrox boss is growing increasingly impatient with FIFA.

"There is no latest news," he sighed. "We await a decision there and I don't know if we will ever get one.

"It doesn't seem too awkward a decision to make but they are taking their time and deliberating over something. I just wish they would let everyone know what is happening.

"If we have him, we will still use him.

"In fact, I would have used him far more if I had known the decision was going to take the length of time that it has.

"He would have played far more often for us but the injury situation, after agreeing to sell him to Fulham, was initially the problem.

"But now, after consultation with [Fulham manager] Roy Hodgson, he said to me that we better just get on with it and keep him match fit.

"It affects both teams regardless of the decision that has been made."
