Flanker James Haskell will miss Wasps' clash with Newcastle on Friday but hopes to be fit for England's game with Scotland a week later.

Haskell (pictured) was forced off after 20 minutes with a knee injury in England's Six Nations victory over France last Saturday and appeared to be doubtful for the trip to Edinburgh on March 8.

"London Wasps can confirm that an MRI scan this morning revealed James Haskell has injured the posterior capsule on his left ankle," Wasps said in a statement.

"Haskell will not be fit for Wasps' Guinness Premiership clash with Newcastle Falcons on Friday evening.

"He has begun a programme of intensive rehab with the aim of being fit and available for selection before England's Six Nations match against Scotland."

The news will come as a relief to Haskell since his replacement Tom Croft put in an impressive performance for 60 minutes against the French.

Haskell's return to fitness will add to England coach Brian Ashton's selection dilemma for the highly-competitive back-row spots.
