Davies (pictured) has reportedly made enquiries about Premier League duo Ched Evans (Manchester City) and Michael Tonge (Stoke City) but remains fully focused on the long-term future of the club.

He told the Nottingham Evening Post: "We are getting linked with a host of people but it is about bringing in the right ones at the right time.

"I will say it again, and you can put it in big capital letters if you like, the loan market was always going to be the second-best option. Always.

"All we can do is keep looking for players who will make us better, who are not coming here for a jolly, to get fit or to play out the remainder of the season. We want people who want to be part of the long-term future of the club.

"We want people who want to prove themselves worthy of playing in a Forest shirt and, most importantly, come here because they want the challenge of playing for Forest. Anything else would be a total waste of time."
