Cheltenham striker Paul Connor says his side "are not going to relax" until safety is assured despite moving away from the foot of the table.Connor scored the only goal in Monday's 1-0 victory over his former club Leyton Orient, a result which moved the Robins eight points clear of drop zone with just six games left to play.
"We are not going to relax until we are definitely safe, but we are in a strong position now," Connor told the Gloucestershire Echo.
It was the striker's first start since January 2 having been forced to play second fiddle to Steve Brooker before his return to parent club Bristol City last week.
But boss Keith Downing paid tribute to the forward's attitude during his spell on the sidelines.
"I am so pleased for Paul Connor because he has been criticised for his lack of goals, but his contribution to our club is massive," Downing added. "He's great to have in the squad and he got on with things when he wasn't in the team."
