Mike Edwards and Michael Johnson are winning the race to be fit in time for Notts County's crucial derby against relegation rivals Mansfield. The central defensive pair missed the goalless draw at Shrewsbury on Bank Holiday Monday with respective dead leg and groin problems.
Magpies manager Ian McParland insists the players have been responding well to treatment ahead of the relegation six-pointer at Field Mill.
He told the club's official website: "I am confident they will be available for selection. They have been reporting in for physio and they look okay.
"Michael Johnson travelled with us on Monday but didn't take part and we allowed Mike to stay at home and rest the leg, which has helped him."
Johnson scored the Magpies' winner against Rochdale at the County Ground on Saturday.
