Wolfsburg striker Marcelinho has been fined by his club following reports he was involved in an alleged disco brawl at the weekend.After a report in Tuesday's Bild newspaper claimed Marcelinho had thrown punches in a disturbance at a Berlin disco, he was asked to explain his actions to Wolfsburg coach Felix Magath.

Following their meeting, the Brazilian was fined, although Magath believes the player was not involved in the fracas.

"Marcelinho has assured me that he never used violence at any time," Magath said. "I know his manner and know that he likes to celebrate, but he is not the type to fight."

The player has instead been fined for celebrating into the early hours of Sunday morning and for the negative press the incident brought.
