Fulham have received a huge boost in their battle against relegation after goalkeeper Antti Niemi made a timely return to training.The 33-year-old Finnish international has been out of action since March 1 after suffering an Achilles injury during the game against Manchester United.

Niemi told the club's official website: "It's been a tough couple of weeks not being involved in training or at the games. I've been there in spirit though and prior to Saturday's game there was a real buzz around the training ground and we need to keep that going.

"I have been receiving treatment which has kept me out of the squad but Kasey (Keller) has done a great job, so I'm just going to focus on coming back and training hard and then see what the boss decides."
