Sheffield Wednesday defender Mark Beevers made his debut for England Under-19s in their 3-1 win over Russia on Tuesday night.The Owls teenager, recent winner of the Championship's Apprentice of the Year award, was a 66th-minute substitute for West Ham's James Tomkins.

Brian Eastick's young Lions secured a 3-1 win in Milton Keynes, with Tomkins giving England a two-goal lead and Newcastle striker Andy Carroll adding a third in the 64th minute.

Beevers, a regular in the Owls starting line-up since the turn of the year, is hoping to be included in the squad for the next round of the Under-19s European Championship qualifiers in Belarus.
