Chesterfield manager Lee Richardson has called for fans to help the club's play-off chances by curbing their criticism of him and the team. The Spireites occupy the final play-off spot in League Two despite a run of three defeats in their last four matches.
Richardson said: "There is a lot of pessimism around that other clubs don't have to put up with. If that could change for the last six games, it would give us a better chance of promotion.
"Every decision I make is greeted with chants of 'you don't know what you're doing'. I don't know how many other teams are under such a microscope.
"We have had a very good season, unfortunately one or two people don't see it that way. They see it as all doom and gloom.
"The players are trying to get results but feel at times they are fighting against things other than the opposition."
