Glenn Roeder has praised Norwich defender Jason Shackell for responding strongly after making a crucial first-half error against Colchester. The 24-year-old helped the Canaries to their first win in six games against United last weekend to ease their Championship relegation worries.
Although the defender was at fault for the Us' first-half goal, Roeder was pleased with the way he bounced back in the second half.
"Shacks was dreadfully disappointed at half-time," Roeder told the Canaries' official website. "I thought he had a flawless second half. He was very, very good and it was important for Shackell to come through that in the second half.
"It was important for me to see as well because it was a real error which gave Colchester the opportunity to score. Whatever Colchester threw at him he dealt with so it is a huge pat on the back for him."
