Leicester full-back Alan Sheehan has thanked Leeds United fans and coaching staff following a difficult start to his loan spell at Elland Road.Sheehan has made just five appearances since arriving on loan at the end of January and was recently dropped before turning in his best display in the weekend win over Walsall.

Sheehan told the club's official website: "Being honest I'd have to say the standards I set for myself were unacceptable in those first four games.

"Coming on loan I wanted to play games and I didn't deserve to be in the team after my first four. I've had my chance now and hopefully I've taken it.

"On Saturday, I was really hoping I could show the Leeds fans and thank them for their patience.

"It's the same for the gaffer, Steve Staunton and Macca (Neil McDonald), who have all been excellent helping me. I owed it to them and the fans."
